Applying Inquiry in Health and Physical Education

This section demonstrates how educators may apply an inquiry approach in Health and Physical Education and includes guidelines for educators to use as they consider the different components of an inquiry process. Each of the six components of the Inquiry Framework for Health and Physical Education are examined in terms of:

    • The skills students need to learn and develop
    • Educator tips
    • Elementary and secondary connections to the curriculum
    • Student reflection questions
    • Assessment strategies
    • Success criteria
    • Tools to support student learning throughout each of the components of the inquiry process

For examples of inquiry-based learning in action, refer to the Inquiry-Based Learning in H&PE Videos which include examples from elementary and secondary H&PE classes.
